Generals and destroyed battle wagons

Post by rogerg »

In yesterday's game a BG of battlewagons was broken in melee and removed. The general who was fighting in the front rank was left on his own in contact with the enemy. We just left him there and moved him to a nearby BG in the JAP. Is this correct?

From our reading, he cannot rout with the wagons because they do not rout. He is not subject to a pursuers kill roll because there is no pursuit. The other possiblity is that he should be moved immediately because he is in contact with, although not contacted in a move, by enemy.

I can see no problem with him getting away, he has the horse and a good start while the enemy are struggling over the wagons! It would just be nice to establish exactly when to move him.

That is certainly reasonable in the rules as written. I think you could argue that specfic a few ways.

At a later date on a website I think I might argue that the spirit of the rules is

General with broken BG faces 1 round at 10+ surivial roll before he gets his JAP chance to run away

And therefore carlfiy that non-routers who are simply removed create such a roll.

But it doesn't say so at present. So for me yes it was ok as you did it.
