Henschel Hs129 issues

Post by Longasc »

Take a look at this. This is a little difficult to explain, but something is wrong with the Hs129.

Image

There are two versions of the Hs 129. There are two versions of this plane, one is field grey for Panzer Corps, one is sand color to match the looks of the Afrika Korps.

However, the Hs 129 is never used. The only Hs 129 ever listed is named Hs 129B in both campaigns while it is never named Henschel Hs 129 B but only Henschel Hs 129, unlike other planes who always have their E/F/G etc. attached. The icon of the Afrika Korps Hs129B is sand color, but when you click it the displayed Henschel is grey.

-> I think something got messed up. I am quite sure the "sand" color unit screen Hs 129 icon exists and is that of the never used Hs 129 without "B".

Edit: Just noticed that the sand color icon Hs 129 is listed under the Italian Tac bombers.

I just checked again. I am sorry, this was my mistake.

By now I realized that all Afrika Korps units are sand color but their icons on the unit screen are nevertheless grey.
The Italian Hs129 has both a sand colored icon and a sand colored icon on the unit screen. This confused me and I thought the German should be sand colored, too.
You could add a B to the German Henschel Hs 129 in the unit screen, Henschel Hs 129 B. Besides that, everything is fine.

Regarding the looks,
the Me410 and Hs129 icons always look strange to me as they have their engines before their nose, which makes the Me410 look like it has a boxing glove and the Hs 129 has a peg leg. Which is actually a centered machine cannone between the two black tips of the engines.

The game supports only one "big unit" icon/picture for each unit, that's why you normally see all German units in panzergrau or the SE's in the same camo no matter what terrain. SE planes are normally only supported for the Afrika Korps campaign, that's why the SE planes all come in desert scheme. The small desert icons are only supported for the units on the map. The Italian units all come in desert color by default what also looks a bit strange in later scenarios on the Italian peninsula.
If you browse the game's folders, you should find all small unit icons in the Graphics/Units one, while the big icons are found in the UI/bigunits folder. Well, I haven't tested it yet if you create a desert folder in the bigunits one and check if icons there are used by the game on desert terrain then. Maybe it works, maybe not.
