Uses of Tartschier

Post by phlewis »

The Tartschier troop type in the 30YW German Catholic list looks interesting. What would you use it for and would you run them as Medium or Heavy foot?

I've concluded it is MF for terrain clearing. But have ended up not using them.

As heavy infantry they can support/defend artillery especially in a fortification. Only for a high points game.

That is what I was afraid of. They looked interesting but probably not an efficient place to spend the points.

Flavour, uniquness, quirk, fun. All reasons to get them in. Unless all you intend to do is play comps...Don't choose safe, choose fun.

MF version.

I'll admit I also have 'Poor war wagons Bow' in my Indian army for fun factor too, they've not fired once yet in three games...but they will and it will be memorable - even for doing nothing!

I have run them as MF it gets them through stuff easier. Unfortunately they haven't ever made it as an overlap, and they are enemy cavalry bait. Still I like having them about.

I have not yet use them, but I think that they would make fine and cheap support in a 4 base unit behind a line of pike and shot units
