What army from these figs ?

Post by Amra »

Hi ,
I got a job lot of cheap figs . They are French in greatcoats . mainly just Line inf , no cav . I figure the army could be anything French/Ally (in winter gear) . I have pre-1800 armies so I wanted something later .
I cant pick what to paint :?
1812 with allies ? Spain ? Ally only Corps of some sort ?
Please throw in a suggestion , I'm a mass of uncertainty :D

The 1814 French list is worth considering.
Plenty of variety and options, plus it is one of the few lists that allow you to easily pick-and-mix some Guard units.

1814 is a great little winter campaign, well worth a closer look.

Cheers

Thanks Brett ,
Good thought , but I really wanted to include some Allies in the army to make it look different to a stock French Imperial . You know some Saxons , Wurttembergers or Confederation of the Rhine troops ...maybe it is 1812* sigh *

You could still do 1813. It was chilly in the Spring campaign and the weather was appalling in August. In fact I believe that there were cases of mistaken identity in August due to everyone wearing greatcoats and some friendly fire incidents occurred.

I certainly wouldn't be concerned if I played you and all your figures were wearing greatcoats.
