Please post here your comments about this scenario.
Re: DLC '45 West #17: Dunkirk45
The scenario ended with a MV (loss) at the end of turn 1.
Edit : I noticed while deploying that 12/7 is labeled "Port." I think that is Bray-Dunes. Which in real life doesn't have a port, I don't think, nor does De Panne.

I was a bit better of as II was kicked out with a marginal win after turn 1
Re: DLC '45 West #17: Dunkirk45
Sorry for the inconvenience, this issue is resolved in BETA2 though!
Re: DLC '45 West #17: Dunkirk45
Yep, now it works...
Dunkirk45, beta2
Colonel, Imported Core, DV 17/17
Prestige before/after deployment: 16481/13275
Prestige on last turn/incl. victory bonus: 9783/18783
This one was quite difficult for me, my first attempt lasted 10 turns and then I restarted and redeployed, the second time I took less infantry and no more AAA units. I also upgraded my last two Fw 190A to Ta 152H (a waste of prestige, since they should be in the same unit family just like the Fw 190D, but isn't), and some other small things. Took a bridge engineer along, which was not crucial but certainly helpful sometimes. I also bought one of those Amerikabomber things out of curiosity to see if I liked it, well, the Allies did like it alot (as a target for AAA) but it survived. Second time was with a lot of save/load activity, and generously reinforcing any weakened units.
I reached edge of Dunkirk on turn 11, but had to slow the siege to reinforce/supply, which ment I captured it on turn 13 simultaneously with Bray-Dunes (12,7), so I'm not sure which of those events triggered the Allied counterattack that turn (message came during capture of one of the victory hexes). I
I had prepared some spots for the possible counterattack, and I managed to hold them off by blocking them at Begues (9,14) and the two lakes to the west, and another spot at the swamps (18,16). On the east side I was bypassed by some fast-moving Allied in transports and kept busy by some tanks that followed, so I had to scramble some leftover units to protect Brugge (24,5). I managed to cut most of them off slight south at the river, although one truck made it into a city hex on turn 16, but it was no threat at that point.
Result: DV, still lost two Panthers, and took damage with a lot of units, mostly aircraft and artillery, most were about 80% (from avg. 14 points overstrength) at the end. The heavy tanks barely took a scratch. Most of the aircraft losses were due to the mobile AAA and some unlucky combat results. I think about four Allied air waves came in during the second half, and airfields are far apart so the air war was nicely challenging. The terrain is also very challenging, the many rivers and swamps/bocage give little room for error or a comeback from a really unlucky combat roll.

Re: DLC '45 West #17: Dunkirk45
Dunkirk, Beta 2
Field Marshal, imported/stock core
DV, 17/17
This was a painstaking and mildly costly scenario, but not overly tricky. It took until the last turn to earn the DV, though. I followed a Schlieffen-esque strategy of making my right strong and brushing the coast, figuring the mass of American materiel was to the south and center. It worked effectively.
I purchased an Amerika bomber to use before Sea Lion, and it earned experience at a very extraordinary rate – even doing one damage and one suppression in an attack, it would earn 30 points in the initial experience tier? Seemed odd, especially at Field Marshal rate.

Re: DLC '45 West #17: Dunkirk45
Beta 2. General level. Standard core. Starting prestige 4110, ending 1450. DV on 17/17.
This was a tough one. I started with a broad front approach, but quickly switched to the right flank where I was having success. I was able to roll up the VH's from north to south. I was just barely able to take the last two VH's in Dunkirk on turn 17. That seemed to be what triggered the counter-attack. It didn't amount to much since there wasn't enough time for it to really do any damage. It might be nice to have a few V-weapons in this scenario. The allied air forces are very strong, I lost my new Go-229 fighter, but otherwise held up okay. They did damage, but nothing fatal. The AI doesn't always escort his bombers, making them easy prey for my fighters.
