How is the progress with the beta so far?

I find the game a basic copy of the original but some observations/comments/questions:

1. Have there been many multiplayer games going on between the testers? I haven't seen many up or many testers posting here. Is everything to be sent to you by email instead and that's why I'm not seeing much activity on the board here?

2. The games I've played so far (mostly with Turk) have played pretty much as the original, but there have been problems. The rotation is still buggy. Many times, while rotating, I accidentally right-click a 2nd time and end with a BG facing completely the wrong way. An undo or such would be very helpful. I cannot tell at all what really happens in combat when something evades or routs: units just poof and reappear somewhere. It would be helpful if you could follow the evade and rout moves. Will there eventually be a replay? This I think is essential. Also, I have tried to watch and see if BGs are rallying, but I haven't noticed any doing so yet; esp. routed BGs...they seem to just keep on going.

3. Sometimes the game takes a long time to load (and a far greater time when closing!!). Am I the only one experiencing this? Perhaps it's just a slow laptop!

4. As mentioned, a mini-view of maps when choosing them is also essential. My pikes deploying in a solid line of forests was quite silly.

Hello Dan,

You could see the progress by yourself: there were 4 beta release candidate provided for testing until now, and the code itself progressed from revision 650 (bRC1 2012.12.11) to the current revision 688 (2013.01.07). There's also a full list with each revision's details in the Version History thread.

1) Not so many, but we've deleted all of them at each new bRC build release. There are not so many people in beta yet, and there was also the end of the year holiday. We'll swing into a full (open) beta soon.
2a) the BG rotation is still WIP (and the problem not addressed yet).
2b) BG movement (instead of current teleport) is already implemented, but the Movement Manager system needs more work which was spent on solving all beta signaled issues lately.
2c) there will be a replay, but it won't be provided for the initial release version.
2d) the BG rallying is already implemented and working fully. you should watch the log for the Compulsory Rally section.
3) if it happens only sometimes, is probably a local problem (ie your computer problem)

All [BUG] threads which are not addressed yet are on our To Do list. All the _[BUG] threads were addressed and have the revision in which they were dealt with stated.
