Skipping the unit selection screen
After setting up a scenario in which I am using Merr's deploy area script with un-fixed units I was wondering if there is a way to skip the unit purchase screen.
I have all of the units pre-set so there is no purchasing so it would be ideal to by-pass that screen so players can get right into the action. Any ideas?

Re: Skipping the unit selection screen
It's not possible currently. I guess we could make it something that can be forced by script.

Ahhh...ok, Pip. No worries, just wondering if I was missing out on something.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Mac, have you tried fixing all of the units?Brummbar44 wrote:After setting up a scenario in which I am using Merr's deploy area script with un-fixed units I was wondering if there is a way to skip the unit purchase screen.

I don't know if it will skip the FS screen. Might insist on showing it to tell folks what they've got.
But it would skip the selection/deselection element of FS.
If you're using code from GJS'44, Merr's dual deploy overrides positioning so both players can redeploy, fixed or not.

Oh?! Thanks Jon!
So if I fix the units it will skip the 'purchase' screen (nothing to purchase, so I don't need it) then the players will simply go to the deploy? (Yes, I'm using your awesome GJS as a model! Highly recommended! Thanks again to you and Merr!)
I'll give it a go...I've got a couple of tests to do anyway (must get rid of the bridge firing mortar! LOL! Though, I'm sure some units wish they actually had that! LOL!)

Re: Skipping the unit selection screen
No. Even if all units are fixed the player is still shown the force selection screen. This is to both give them a chance to check out their units, and also the see the achievements etc.

Hey Mac, I may have accidentally discovered what you were asking for, while setting up our Sword Beach tourney...GottaLove88s wrote:Mac, have you tried fixing all of the units?Brummbar44 wrote:After setting up a scenario in which I am using Merr's deploy area script with un-fixed units I was wondering if there is a way to skip the unit purchase screen.

Set all of the units, for both sides, to "fixed"... and then set the force selection budget to zero...
No money, no honey... BA will skip the force selection screen...
Or, at least, it's doing that for my tourney game just now...
Hopefully it will replicate for you, if you want it to?

Re: Skipping the unit selection screen
Thanks Jon, I'll give that a go!
(edit - works great Jon, thanks again...but now I'm torn...as Pip says the selection screen does present clearly what forces will be in the battle...but it does waste a turn just looking at them...hmmmm)

Hehe, I know what u mean... it IS darned useful to review what units you're getting, even if you can't change 'em...Brummbar44 wrote:Thanks Jon, I'll give that a go!
