New GC flow question

Post by jeffchri »

Quick PC noob question. I have and love Afrika Korps, and I understand that I can neither bring core units from the Grand Campaigns nor export AK cores to the GCs. Fair enough. I am trying to wrap my head around what I CAN do, however ... I have read a number of posts on this, and there have been enough contradictory statements that I just had to post. Feel free to send me a link an authoritative answer.

My main question is what GC DLCs can I link to the new Western front DLCs (42-43 and 44)? Just 39, 40, and 41? Or all of the eastern front DLCs? And once I've completed the western front DLCs, can those core units go back to the eastern front 42, etc.?

And finally, are scenarios scripted to automatically be more difficult in relation to how strong your core units are, or does the player need to tweak the difficulty to handle that?

Thanks in advance!

You are correct. 39-41 can link before 42/43 West. After that point, there is no going to the Eastern Front DLC anymore, at least not with that saved force. Think of all the DLC as a campaign tree in themselves. There is a fork in the tree at DLC41 that can lead to DLC West. Alternatively, a CORE can go into the standard 1942 DLC, and then continue on to 1943 East and go from there.

It certainty is possible to mod the game and the DLC files to link the DLC(or custom campaigns) as you see fit of course though.

No, the DLC campaigns are not adaptable. The campaigns are mostly static in nature, its up to the player to find the difficulty setting that suits them best for a good balance of fun and challenge.

Great, thanks! One follow on question: are you able to change the difficulty in a given campaign mid-stream, or are you only able to make that choice at the beginning of an expansion - or worse at the beginning of the entire GC?

Jeff, you cannot change the difficulty between scenarios.

But you can chang the difficulty before you start the next DLC, so yeah, you can change the difficulty BETWEEN the various DLC Grand Campaigns.
Note that this is more a matter of terminology, the DLCs are named Grand Campaign ('YEAR) but actually its all the DLCs that form the Grand Campaign that spans the entire 2nd World War.
So you play Grand Campaign 39,40,41 at Field Marshal, get your butt kicked in 1942 at Stalingrad and you might feel like playing 43,44 and 45 rather at "Colonel" level... :)

I see, thanks. Okay, and one more stupid question, then: does the number of prestige points vary based on difficulty levels in some/all scenarios?
