Can't set up MP games

Hello. I thought I'd try to put some challenges out there, but everytime i try the server tells me I have customised movement, terrain, equipment and gamerulz files.
I do have a customised equip file which i use for single player DLC's with the generic mod enabler but it was not selected. Gamerulz for the DLC's is also modded but not the main game file and i don't remember touching terrain and movement. I'm up to date and have 2 previous MP games running but i thought i should reinstall the latest patch again to clean out any trouble.
I did this but when i try to set up a battle again it still says i have customised files... why ?

Haven't seen these sorts of problems for a while. If I had it, I would uninstall all mods using the GME, then install 1.11, then try to make a challenge.

Yes, the patching must be done without any mods installed.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to uninstall everything. Them install PzC, DLC, Afrika Korps and last DLC 42-43 West. In case you don't have the last DLC , install patch 1.11.
Try multiplayer then without having installed GME.

i have the same issue with a clean 1.0 and 1.11 install. so it is an issue affecting a lot of people. It happens to me only since the 1.11 patch, which also removed some sounds of german half-tracks and italian tanks.

So far only two people complained. I had already asked Alex to take a look at this.
Can you please tell us if that's happening also with both official multi player maps and "official" maps?

looks like a "total install" coming up as I did just patch with no mods. Perhaps some trouble interfacing with GME.

Just did a complete uninstall/reinstall of PzC, AC and DLC's, which included manually deleting some files that were left over and a registry clean up with no luck. All mods in GME remain deactivated but i still get the modified equipment file when i try to set up a battle.
Looks like I'm out of MP

Is this happening with all multiplayer maps, or just with custom user made multiplayer maps?

The only battles I've tried to set up are iron cross and red star both are stock MP scenario's. One of my MP battles is against Razz and he uses a modified file for that but my game file should definately be standard issue now.
What "modifications" is the server actually picking up when it does this check ?

This happened earlier with another patch. I think it was 1.05.



The modification it picks up is the equipment file. It's not reading the 1.11 equipment file.

If you check old posts you will see this has been an issue in the past.

I downloaded the patch manually from a mirror. the equipment file issue occurs only when I create a challenge in the lobby.

Yes, I understand. The thing is, when you start an MP game, the engine checks CRC of all files involved against a database it has. If there are CRC mismatches, a warning is displayed about custom/modified files. This is what you see, because CRC database in 1.11 is not up to date. Tricky thing is, it was correct in the GM build, but for whatever reason it did not get into the final installer. We are investigating this issue together with the installer team.

As for sound issue, I've made some tests myself, and it seems that this can happen when loading saved games created by older versions. We had to rename a few files (to fix a different issue), but old saves still remember file names which were used before.

In any case, sorry for these problems.

That make sense to me. Anyway Alex is aware of this issue, I'm sure this will be fixed.

I have the same issue too:

I have no mods at all and updated to the latest patch.
When I try to set up a challenge using any of the official scenarious I get:
equipment.pzeqp has been modified
and that if I do create a challenge it will be flagged as user modified.

I am able to actually create a challenge though.
And someone accepted it and I have played a couple of turns already and
everything seems to be fine. (except of course my progress since this is my first MP game, )

I am not 100% sure how this works and I haven't tried modding PanzerCorps but:
If this is one file that is giving people trouble, would it work if someone would just upload corrected version on the forum and we could replace ours?

I'm really sorry, but it's not as easy as that. Not everybody seems to have the issue. Could you try with different players and different maps?

I set up 2 more challenges and 2 different people accepted them and we played a couple of turns already.

so far I am playing 3 maps set up by me and they seem to work OK:
sea lion
stalingrad
urban warfare

I'm able to to play MP games too but always get the modded files warning no matter what scenario i load up.
It may seem minor but I'm an honest guy and when i play MP games i like my opponent to know that were contesting on a clean slate. I also feel a little bit apprehensive about accepting games that appear to modified. I'm sure most players are above board so its no great deal but i do feel this bug could lead to misunderstanding later on.

PzC was released in a solid state and its a credit to the devs and slitherine but a few bugs have started to creep in with the last few patches, especially in MP (my preferred mode of play). Anyway its been a while since this problem was highlighted and i was wondering if any progress has been made in identifying the problem... and if there are any plans to fix it ?

Well considering i did two complete uninstallations of all my Panzer Corps files followed by a registry and disk clean and then reinstalled all files in the order you suggested I'm not sure what else it could be. I even cut the link between the GME program and Panzer Corps So nothing else but your clean files could be picked up.
What else can i do from this end to eliminate user error ?
