I bought and downloaded the Slitherine version of the game, but I am unable to install the 1.02 patch because of a JRE (Java Runtime Environment) error. I am running Windows Vista, and I know the game has some compatibility problems with the OS after looking at the Matrix forums. From the cursory overview I had, it seems that Slitherine was able to fix this issue by including the JRE with their version of the game - something Matrix didn't do with theirs. Is it possible that Slitherine could re-release the patch with the JRE attached so that I could open the patch?
Oh and I have Java version 1.06 Release 2. It's the latest version according to the Java site.

Java Problem with Vista
I have a dual core athlon, OS Vista Home Premium, nVidia 7500 LE graphic card and the game runs without problems with V1.0 AND V1.02 (Matrix edition). I also have Java 1.06 update 2 installed. Did your game work in the 1.0 version? Are you sure you patched with the slitherine version?

We didnt include the jre with the patch because it makes the file go from 2 MB to 32MB, but as you already have teh jre it should not care. We created a zip in case as one of the beta testers reported this and we could not resolve it. The zip should allow you to get all the files in the patch. The link to the zip is in the same post as the patch exe.
The zip version didn't resolve the issue. The game still thinks it's at version 1.0 even after I copied and pasted the files over the previous ones. Yes, version 1.0 of the game works fine for me and I think it's great, it's just frustrating not being able to patch so I can play with everyone else online. And yes, I have the Slitherine version and patched with the Slitherine 1.02 patch via unzipping, so there shouldn't be any issues as far as I know.
If at all possible, could Slitherine please send me a link or something with the JRE attached to the 1.02 patch? I'm pretty sure that will solve my issues. It's just for some reason, the installer cannot detect that I have Java installed on my computer, even when I point it directly at the java.exe .
