What to buy?

I don't own any part of this title. If I was to buy, what do I purchase? I've been reading the threads and it is very confusing. Also I usually use Matrix, are the versions the same? I have the impression that it is a complicated process to install this title. Has it been streamlined at all? Finally, I only play vs. the AI. Will this AI be adequate or never having played any Commander series title, should I wait for the upcoming WWI title which will have a newer AI?
Thanks for any opinions.

If you're only interested in AI, then the new CTGW is better for sure.
