It can take up to 8 turns, 160 days or over 5 months to ship a unit from England to Egypt via the Cape. Is this reasonable as the distance is approx 14000 miles or 56 days at 10 knots!
Given that the axis seem to have a easy time in north africa would it be better to have a capital city in Egypt to simulate the better allied supply situation v the Axis.

Re: Africa
Maybe we should reduce the Africa Loop from 3 turns to 2 turns. It is not consistent since travelling around Africa then is faster than through the Mediterranean but it provides a certain long distance route for Allies to use from and to Egypt which is good.davetheroad wrote:It can take up to 8 turns, 160 days or over 5 months to ship a unit from England to Egypt via the Cape. hopefully the africa loop will be reduced in the patch as the transit time from the UK to the africa loop is at least 5 turns or 100 days versus say historically 70 days overall to Egypt including stopovers
Apparently via the Takoradi route the transit time from west Africa to Egypt was 6 days for aircraft and over 5000 were shipped through 1943
Yuo could argue that because of the 5 turn transit from the UK the africa loop should only be 1 turn.

I have only one MP game to judge so far, but I agree that it takes way too long to send troops to North Africa as Britain.
Additionally there is no way to protect your troops from submarines (you can only react after they attacked
) even if you use the already "smallish"(in numbers, not in strength) Royal Navy for the troops transports protection.
The allied player is not able to react in North Africa, as sending reinforcements will arrive much to late...
The ability to build a single unit per turn in Cairo might help (courtesy to Vypuero).

In the 1.02 patch, the Afric Loop is one turn faster than before so it is now slightly quicker to use the Loop than going through the Mediterranean.
