Arab Conquest under v2

I'm thinking to try something new under v2 and my Arabs seem like a good option. They have things that v2 seem to make a little more cost effective - i.e. irregulars and protected vs reg and armored.

My 800 point list
4 TCs
3 units of 4 avg prot irr cav lance sword (dismount as rear support)
5 units of 8 sup irr HF off spear
2 units of 4 LC lance sword
1 units of 6 LF sling
1 unit of 6 LF JLS
1 unit of 6 Dailami MF Sup Arm Imp Foot Sword
13 BGs

I'm still not sure how these will cope with Romans or Pike though? Any thoughts?

Hey Rich

Very similar to the list I use (back when I used to win games!) - except I take the cav as superior and 1 less :LF unit (from memory). Always went well and the 4 or 5 large spear units are very effective. Lilkely to be moving back to these for Cancon.

Superior status is still the bargain it has always been.

Undrilled HF are probably significant better. Could be good times for Arab Conquest.

And the Superior MF bow may be worth a go, and protected lancers a touch less vulnerable - what's not to like!

I don't know about the Persian cav, but I do know that I think the camels just aren't worth it. If they had swords or some armor, then maybe.

Use the dummy elephants instead. They look great and can stand behind your spear 1 rank deep where the spear are vulnerable to mounted. Therefore disordering said mounted at impact.

Does anyone actually MAKE dummy elephants? You know, an elephant made of wicker?

I've got some. They are here, painted by mount and blade, Museum Minis

They have whicker ears and trunks.

But since camels can't swim the trunks are quite useless

Magister Militum make them as well. They're in the Assyrian range.
