Question re fortification bonus

Post by johntindall »

G'day folks.

Probably a dumb newbie question  but anyway...

For cover purposes buildings have a cover rating of 63%, then light fortifications are also 63% plus a 2x fortification bonus.

What does the "2x fortification bonus" actually do? Improve resilience to enemy fire?

G'day mate! :-)
That's one for Pip & Iain... it's a good question!
Heavy fortifications are 80% cover plus 4x fortification bonus...

Just bumping this thread up again. Great question -- haven't figured it out yet either.

In the Christmas Surprise scenario, for example, units taking equivalent fire seem to last longer in a forest compared to a fortification.

Light and Heavy forts reduce bombard damage by 50 and 75 % respectively. Heavy forts reduce suppression by 50% and units in them will never surrender. That's on top of their cover bonus values.

Cheers

Does that reduce bombard damage from mortars? Or from arty, naval arty and airstrikes too?

By "reduce suppression 50%" do you mean they suppress at 25 instead of 50? Or something else...?

Thanks Pip!

Anything that uses bombardment as its attack - so yes for most of the off-map weapons.

For suppression, I was unclear - it reduces the morale reduction by 50%. So takes twice as long to get suppressed.
