Are Reiters (Horse Average Heavily armoured Pistol -- Pistol) better fielded in 4s or 6s ?

Thinking of deploying them as 3 deep tonight against some artillery less Samurai, so in Impact I can survive against Superior spears.

3 ranks deep, better if supported by commanded shot so they have a volley of 4+2 dice at 2" range and they can stand when charged
