multiple hero bonuses
Hi,
It is clear that a unit can have a maximum of 3 hero bonuses. And there can be 3 of attack, defense and may be some other for the same unit.
But is it possible to have 3 bonuses of range or movement for a unit. Or does a +1 range bonus excludes to get the same bonus again for this unit?
It would make some sense, since three +1 range bonuses for a unit would be terrific but pretty unfair. Does anybody know if this the case or not?
Thanks
Paul

Re: multiple hero bonuses
You can have multiple heroes giving the same bonuses. So it is possible to get up to three +range or movement heroes on the same unit. Attack, defense and i think initiative heroes can come in each flavor between 1 and 3. Spotting, movement and range heroes only appear in the +1 incarnation. Additionally range heroes are restricted to artillery and Air defense units. If you get a +range hero on a 8.8cm FlaK it only applies in the AA mode not when you switch it into ATG tho.
Re: multiple hero bonuses
As an additional note to the previous post, attack, defense and initiative bonuses are more frequent than the rest, so getting several movement or range heroes is a rare occasion, but it does happen from time to time.
Re: multiple hero bonuses
Two of my most useful units have been an infantry unit with 2 movement heroes and an artillery unit with 3 range units. Really cool to have a nebelwerfer with a range of 5.

Wow - that's just sick, a rail gun without the railsbrettz123 wrote:Two of my most useful units have been an infantry unit with 2 movement heroes and an artillery unit with 3 range units. Really cool to have a nebelwerfer with a range of 5.

Re: multiple hero bonuses
Its fun to use but to be honest its a waste of at least 1 hero spot. I mean 1 R1R1A anything is probably actually more useful.Mooseman wrote:Wow - that's just sick, a rail gun without the railsbrettz123 wrote:Two of my most useful units have been an infantry unit with 2 movement heroes and an artillery unit with 3 range units. I also got a nebelwerfer with range total +2, but i changed it to a 17cm artillery so I got more ammo and range 5, good to have in a central position, the wurfrahmen could already move and fire.brettz123 wrote:Two of my most useful units have been an infantry unit with 2 movement heroes and an artillery unit with 3 range units. The most useful unit early in the war is in my opnion a 88-flak with a +1 move hero

Re: multiple hero bonuses
Oh yes a +1 movement 88er is truly great. I wish i would manage to get a +2 or maybe even a +3 movement one .. that would be hilarious.RichardL58 wrote:The most useful unit early in the war is in my opnion a 88-flak with a +1 move hero

Re: multiple hero bonuses
You can't get three +1 range heroes, unless you reload XXX times until you get 3 ranged. I dont reload anymore, but I lose hair when I get +spotting on tactical bombers or artillery units. +Movement is also lame on planes.

Re: multiple hero bonuses
I have a Me110 with a +1 spotting hero, I think its very useful as long range recon with 3 spotting (the Me110 has a base spotting of 2).krugec wrote:You can't get three +1 range heroes, unless you reload XXX times until you get 3 ranged. I have a 17cmK18 with 2 range heroes...so it has a range of 5Rudankort wrote:As an additional note to the previous post, attack, defense and initiative bonuses are more frequent than the rest, so getting several movement or range heroes is a rare occasion, but it does happen from time to time.
Feels a bit odd and to be honest Iam not a big friend of this kind of Über-Units
all these "uselss" bonuses haveall good use...krugec wrote:You can't get three +1 range heroes, unless you reload XXX times until you get 3 ranged. I dont reload anymore, but I lose hair when I get +spotting on tactical bombers or artillery units. +Movement is also lame on planes.
artillery with spotting allows the arty to walk more agressive on its own and deploy more favorable without much support...
movement for plane is useful too as often there is only 1 or 2 hex missing to the next target so it could mean you can fly 3-4 more attacks during a scenario ...
+1 movement for example for 8.8 flak makes a monster of it > against air and armor...
all bonuses are useful wherever people know how to exploit them or not is another question

Re: multiple hero bonuses
That's an exception, 99% of all other tactical bombers have spotting 1. I changed a stuka wich got +spot to me110, and Im using it for recon sometimes, but its not very efficient, me110 has a higher prestige cost and you get shot by AA fire if you send it to scout towns/airfields. Or enemy fighters appear and massacre it from enemy rear.RichardL58 wrote:I have a Me110 with a +1 spotting hero, I think its very useful as long range recon with 3 spotting (the Me110 has a base spotting of 2).krugec wrote:You can't get three +1 range heroes, unless you reload XXX times until you get 3 ranged. Re: multiple hero bonuses
I am aware of all bonuses and how to use it. I dont like the idea of sending artillery alone into enemy range, it gets massacred, only the stug guns are ok for that, but when the soviets start using stronger tanks, they destroy stugs as well (stugIIIb has 10 defence).chris10 wrote:I have a 17cmK18 with 2 range heroes...so it has a range of 5Rudankort wrote:As an additional note to the previous post, attack, defense and initiative bonuses are more frequent than the rest, so getting several movement or range heroes is a rare occasion, but it does happen from time to time.

Ok so you might bomb 1 more time with movement on bomber per a couple of scenarios, its not really as effective as +attack,+defense,+initiative (good for me110 and later fw models).
Yes +movement on 8.8 is very good, but remember its primarly a defensive AA gun, its good before stalingrad, after that it takes too much lossess fighting stronger soviet tanks/infantry.
I played on Manstein and Rommel mostly, so maybe that influences my opinion on units, DLC43,44,45 is really a massacre on Manstein.

Re: multiple hero bonuses
If recon an airfield or town it sure attracts AA fire ...but I use it to scout the flanks to uncover hiding armour groups and other nasty treats. And it is seldom targeted by more than one fighter, nothing it can't handle by its own. Just starting DLC 43 and upgraded it to an Me410krugec wrote:That's an exception, 99% of all other tactical bombers have spotting 1. The whole idea behind heroes is that you don't always get the best ones. Otherwise they would be OP. But I can see how on Manstein you need the heroes to be as strong as possible.

Re: multiple hero bonuses
They are proper German, but again for the wonderful German market, that depicts games on the same level as children`s toys, we are forced to take out any Nazi or SS symbols, so also the uniforms, caps, hats, helmets, etc... were stripped/camouflaged of any forbidden symbols... sigh.
Hence eg. we first wanted to add historical aces like: Otto Carius, Rudel, etc..., but as some of those were or might have been convicted for war crimes, that could be illegal so we ended up using generic heroes. But they are German.
If we didn`t, the game would be forbidden and we would get a law suit on top in several European countries.
Luckily modders don`t apply to these restrictions as long as they don`t put pictures up on German sites and forums, there are several historical modifications here on Slitherine made by the modding community.

Re: multiple hero bonuses
Like I wrote in an other post, in the new scenario editor you are able to assign up to 3 heroes for an unit and you could use multiple bonuses for each hero. But now, all these assigned heroes are available since the first turn. Its a nice new feature!
If two columns would be added ("HeroKillsMin" and "HeroKillsMax") in this window, the scenario designer could have the chance to assign fixed heroes to an unit (placed on a scenario) with multiples bonuses. These "kills"-columns says the same like Hero1[,2,3]KillsMin Hero1[,2,3]KillsMax in the gamerules.pzdat.

Were any different heroes included in Africa ?
