Is it worth it, paying 53pps to knock out Tallinn an getting maybe one turn head start on attacking Leningrad with 2 german corps?

The normal cost is 16 PP's; i.e., the cost of two amphibious invasions.

The 32 turn is May 13th 1941 ,not May 8th .
If Axis make up their mind to take Leningrad ,it is worthy . But If Axis 's main offensive is in the south , it will become not necessary .
The cost of this stategy should be 8+8+10=26 pp( 8 for per transport, 10 for para)

What about the paradrops? You had to make 2 of them, thats another 15pp x 2 = 30pps. Maybe you can do it with just one?

Sure; but I usually use that paradrop somewhere else. And, I'd say 70 to 80% I can take Tallinn without having to use any paradrops.

I don't always execute this gambit. In fact, I'd say I try it probably 1/3 of the time. The upside is that it's nice to get that pesky Red sub group out of the way. And I find that it draws a lot of Russian forces to the north to defend Leningrad. This is a nice side benefit; especially when your main push is going to be through the center towards Moscow. Or, is it as telegraph going to be straight for Leningrad? :D

Morris, thanks. Corrected; but the updated slide isn't showing even after I hit refresh. It was updated, uploaded and replaced the original slide (photobucket). Though the update isn't showing, it's been updated. :D

With respect to cost, here's the results from my 10 trials:

1-5. TAC-BB-TAC-Inf-Inf* (16 PP's).
6. TAC-BB-TAC-Inf-Inf*-A/B-A/B (16 + 20 PP's = 36 PP's).
7. TAC-BB-TAC-Inf-Inf*-A/B (26 PP's).
8-10. TAC-BB-TAC-Inf-Inf* (16 PP's).

So the average cost over those 10 trials was 19 PP's. But; I like to look at broken down by percentage: 16 PP's -- 80%, 26 PP's -- 10% and 36 PP's -- 10%. Though, to really get a more exact breakdown I will need to run more trials, which I think I'll do. 25 trials should be enough. I'll report back when I have the results.
