Artillery Movement & Unlimbering

Post by MNFS »

Is it possible for limbered artillery with a general to make 2 moves then take a CMT test to unlimber in the same turn?

The limbered artillery with a General can make a second move as a BG with an attached General. However ALL second moves must be an advance - see p100 2nd bullet right column. Therefore the second move cannot be an unlimber (only an advance).

just for the record, back when the rules were first released RBS himself posted that limbers were a waste of points in these rules. Better to use those points for something else and try to get the best place for your guns you can since they won't be going anywhere. Sounds like you too have been playing FOGN where you can move and attempt to unlimber.

I think you'll find limbers are free!

I always take limbers to a competition as it can be important to get your artillery (especially Medium) into the right position so that you can cover a flank, react to a deep deployed enemy or grab a hilltop!

Remember, if you want to move your artillery, it must be deployed limbered and once unlimbered the limbers disappear never to be seen again.

Limbers - never leave home without them!

never used them myself, always thought nothing could be worse than failing the CMt to unlimber and you have a nice gun sitting there that can't shoot.
Give me a nice hill out back of the line in the deployment area any day, thats how real men fight

Which is why most sensible players will deny you that...
