Mounted effect on firing

Post by bahdahbum »

Hy,

One question on mounted affecting the number of dice on medium range firing ( infantry ) .

Every unit that has a ennemy mounted unit within 6 MU looses 2 dice even if that mounted unit is not the target ( or 1 dice if rifle or rifle attachment ) .

That's Ok ( and the mounted attachment also if the unit with teh attachment is the target )

Now , does it also work if you advance asome friendly infantry towards yu ennemy and stay at let's say 3 MU and just behind you infantry you put a mounted unit ( that cannot pass trough your magnificent infantry line ) . Does your opponent units also losse 2 dice each as they are within 6 MU ?

The rules only specifies a distance, a range not a facing or the fact that some impassable terrain or line of friendly units are in the way ;

Short answer, yes.
Criteria for when the deduction should apply was discussed during beta testing.
In the end the authors opted for simplicity and infantry drop dice at medium range if enemy cavalry are within 6MU, period.
This applies even if the enemy cavalry are facing the wrong way, cannot charge, are in combat, or even routing.

Yep very clear as a separate bullet in the rules.
