Re: Warfare 2012
Or do you mean the dates of the show itself, Richard? If so, it is Novmber 17 and 18 - bottom left front page of the club website.

Re: Warfare 2012
A quick reminder to all that if you are intending to come to Warfare (and why wouldn’t you?
) ) you need to get your entry in quick as the price goes up from £15 now, to £20 from the 5th of October. As much as I love WAR, I hope to save you all the extra fiver.
)
Just for clarification, you don’t need to have you list in with your entry (but the earlier the better!)
Entries should please be made via the club website (http://www.wargamesassociationreading.co.uk/), where you click on the “Warfare Competitions” tab on the left, then from there on the “Warfare Competitions payment sheet” tab on the right and you can enter and pay online. It’s a remarkably painless way of parting with £15…

URGENT - ENTRIES BEING CAPPED
I have just had some unexpected news about competition entries for this year's Warfare. For reasons beyond my control we are having to cap the numbers of
entries.
For FOG:R the limit is 20. We currently have 16. That means that if you are intending to enter you need to do so *now*.
I don't know why this reduction in numbers is being imposed suddenly, I was given no notice at all - the organiser who told me was sounding pretty cheesed-off. However, we are where we are and all I can do is pass the message on urgently.

Re: Warfare 2012
I am "list-hunting". Does anyone have an email address for Jason Dawson and/or Matthew Biggs?
Thanks,
Tim
Thanks,

Tim,
I have one for Matt. He is coming to the club tonight for a practice game with Ben. I will chase him to let you have his list.

Re: Warfare 2012
I see the runners and riders are up on the Reading website:-
http://www.wargamesassociationreading.c ... .-6733.pdf
1 Jason Dawson - Early Thirty Years War German Catholic
2 Simon LeRay-Meyer Early Gustavan Swedish
3 Tim Porter - Early Danish
4 Simon Clarke - Mapuche
5 Alasdair Harley - Jurchen, Later Jin and Qing
6 Andrew Kitcher - Jurchen, Later Jin and Qing
7 Dave M Allen -Later Imperial Austrian
8 Allan Saull - Hungarian-Transylvanian
9 Don Avis - Japanese
10 Don McHugh - Early Gustavan Swedish
11 Ben Jones - Thirty Years War Danish
12 Nick Overland - Early Thirty Years War German Catholic
13 Richard Young - Early Gustavan Swedish
14 Peter Gregory - Later Ottoman Turkish
15 Kevin Johnson - Early Ottoman Turkish
16 Robin Poulton - Knights of St John
17 Jeremy Hill - Early Thirty Years War German Protestant
18 Richard Bodley-Scott - Hungarian-Transylvanian Umpire
19 David Parish - Hungarian-Transylvanian
20 Matthew Biggs - Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
21 Lynette Maxim - Early Thirty Years War German Catholic
22 David Johnson - Early Thirty Years War Swedish
Well folks, apart from a few brave and hopefully not misguided souls (cos I'm one of them!), it looks like it's a Heavily armoured horse pistol pistol fest with 4 Early Swedes in for good measure - any bets on the number of Commanded Shot BG's with Regimental guns?!! Lynette has let me down as I didn't bank on being the only Japanese! and a very interesting choice from Robin in the Knights of St John - not a bad army choice (Mr Gibson like to play these) hopefully we can see a recreation of the siege of Malta with some Turk on knight action!
Alasdair and Andy have gone for the dangerous Quin Chinese - lots of 8 bow shooters with RG's (hope they bring loads of dice!) as they'll be banking on facing lots of unarmoured foot and any sort of horse!
And how can we forget Mr Clarke - he's always brought something brilliantly painted and off the wall. Will he do so well with his Mapuche that we'll all be queueing up to buy the figures from Lurkio or will this be the death knell for the South Americans in UK competition?! (they're not too bad at footie tho) Sunday afternoon will tell.
OK boys (and Lynette) - let the sledging begin!!
Don

Re: Warfare 2012
Yes it looks like a cuirassier fest
how bad do I feel
Paddy persuaded me as i had a new army to use it, even if it was mostly foot, how nearly did I send in an Early Danish, but c'est la vie, can't wait and I'll see if I can learn how to use this infantry thing
take care
Alasdair

Hmmmm, and there was me thinking that with 4'6" deep tables you'd be bound to go for the entirely mounted version. I suppose the leopard can change his spots

Re: Warfare 2012
Oh, and salutations to Matthew and Robin for brave army choices. Simon's is insane as usual. And Don must be wondering what everyone else found out about the Japanese and forgot to tell him.
Dave
PS There won't be any Commanded Foot with reg guns as that's not allowed for another three years. Also, how did Dave Johnson smuggle Early TYW Swedes into a theme that ends in 1629?!

Re: Warfare 2012
For those who care (especially David Johnson), he is using Early Gustavan Swedish, not Early 30 Years War Swedish. Don't ask me how I managed to write it down wrong - but those who have been getting emails from me at 3am may be able to hazard a guess.

Good to see many of the usual suspects using something different. Also it's good to see quite a few different names on the list.

Warfare - Parking
As for the past few years, parking at the Rivermead is Pay and Display. IIRC (which I might not...) it is £5 all day on Saturday, and £2 or £3 on Sunday. The machines only accept coins, not notes (unless they have upgraded them since last year!)
You can reclaim *half* of this parking charge from the Rivermead centre reception but only on the same day as the parking (i.e. you can't get Saturday's parking charge half-refunded on Sunday). You will need to show the staff on Reception your parking receipt and your entry badge so that they know you are with the show.
Cheers,
Tim

Warfare Runners and Riders...
An update - unfortunately Simon Clarke has had to withdraw due to family emergency. Best wishes to him and his. His Mapuche will be sadly missed!
Fortunately, Adrian Steer has stepped into the breach. He will be bringing Early 30YW German Protestant to the fray.
