GSv2.10 Game Summary Reports (GSRs)

Post by rkr1958 »

With GSv2.10 out of beta testing I though it might be a good idea to start collecting data on the outcomes. Counting GSv2.10 RC and later, I've personally completed 3 games of which the axis have won 2 and tied 1. Below is an example of a GSR that I've pulled together from one of those three games. I know that Joe is dong something similar for the game he just finished against Morris.

My thoughts on GSRs are that these are a small summary "report" written after the fact of a completed game, which was a very rare occurrence during beta testing. I thought it'd be nice to both collect summaries of axis/allied wins data and to also have folks write short summaries of their games (hence GSRs) in order to get a boarded view of how games are playing out.

By the way, a GSR takes much less effort and time than an AAR; so I also hope that this idea would result in greater contribution community wide in this section.

This is an interesting idea, but the amount of detail you've given for your GSR is a bit intimidating--more like a full-fledged AAR.

Might I suggest that we solicit just brief game summaries? If we even just knew who played whom in 2.1 & what the results were, it would be useful information. If people wanted to add some more details, that would be nice too.

Not to take away from what you've done below, but I think the low rate of response might be due to how much work/time it would take to make up something like you've provided.

I do, at times get carried away in my writeups. I didn't mean to say that players needed to produce a GSR even close to the level of detail for the example I gave. It could really be an all text summary. What I really want to accomplish is to have a thread where folks can report axis (or allied) wins and losses and include some explanation of the game. If we get enough responses from the GS community then I think we can start making some informed conclusions about how well GS is balanced. Otherwise; I'm afraid all we have is anecdotally data, which while is interesting is not statistically relevant.

I'm not looking for a personal won-lost record here but an overall composite (axis-allied) won-lost breakdown. I'd be happy to compile and maintain the statistics if enough folks are willing to provide them (in this thread) and write some sort of GSR in order for us to assess the strengths of the opponents and the direction of the game.

By the way, antidotally, the axis are 2-0-1 in three games that I've completed in the last month. And the 2 victories are both ultimate victories.
