Harder Path for DLC/GC '43 East

Post by jaggy »

Which is the harder path for Kursk? The "Ponyri - Armory North" or "Yakovlevo - Armory South"? I would like to take the harder path. Thanks in advance

The armory north seemed to be a bit harder but both are definitely worth playing.

The South has a bit more open, tank friendly country. I prefer the South for that reason. Both are challenging, especially on Manstein.

I think it depends on what you're best at. If you're good with tanks, the south path is probably easier, although Oboyan is very hard. If you're good with infantry tactics, then the north path is probably easier, although I think you may potentially lose more units since a lot of the fighting is done in close terrain. If you think both paths are both too easy, try it with my mod.

@nikivdd - Got it, both paths hard but one optimised for enemy infantry and one for armour. Thanks.

@billmv44 - Playing at FM but I do admit its more fun with Panzers. Thanks.

@deducter - I don't mind tank or infantry-intensive operations. After wrapping up all the DLC/GCs, I plan to try your mod.

Thanks all, I think I'll take the southern path.

I loved the Northern patch. Ponyri, Olkhovatka are one of the best scenarios ever. A lot of combined arms tactics required there. I find the scenarios with a lot of open spaces and dozens and dozens of tanks a little bit boring. Try it with the Deducter's e-file.

@ivanov - Thanks, now you have made me change my mind and go north! About to begin Orel but the best scenario for DLC/GC '43 has got to be "Kharkov '43", ended up destroying 59 armoured units (recons not include) in the end!

I think for me the best scenario was actually Orel:)

I have never won a DV on Orel unless I give myself enough prestige to overstrength/elite reinforce everything. It is hard. But compared with some stuff in 1944 with my mod, well, it is a stroll through the park.
