MultiPlayer Question

Post by Eggmanrc »

Well..... you guys were right.....

I'm a semi-daily reader of the PC forums and always learn from you guys. I saw this game on GG and couldn't believe someone did a remake of PG. Being a big fan of that series, I knew all my spare time for, oh... the next 3 months just got reserved. Life is good.

After enjoying every minute of PC since February, I was constantly reading on the forums how much better multi-player was. To make a long story short, the ease of the interface and gaming experience is beyond believably easy to navigate. Great job guys. Anyone remember PG II and the Hell we lived through trying to keep a multiplayer game going?

My question is: What does the "Claim" button on the Opponents Turn tab do? I'm scared to test it and screw up a game or something irretrievable.

Thanks for your help fellas. I did a search and couldn't find it.

Oh, and by the way. To the guys I am playing now and to those in future matches in multiplayer, my Gawd are you fellas good!! :) I've had every version of PG since the original. Allied General, PGII, all of 'em. I thought I could play. Well..... My first game against a live opponent was an eye opener. And man, I really did my homework before jumping in. Played both sides in Hot Seat, clicked through every turn to look for hidden jumps in points somewhere, everything I could think of to not get killed and seem like a waste of time against someone good. Well, it sounded like a gameplan anyway.

In a paired game in Steamroller against Steel playing "space" I learned more in the first 10 turns on how to play a live opponent than in 3 months of playing the AI. Tactically and strategically I got my gonads handed to me. But had a ball on every turn. Thanks for the lessons guys. :)

Glad that you are having fun!
To claim a game essentially means that you remove it from your "playing" list.
Usually done if an opponent has not logged on for officially 30 days but I have claimed games with less time. It is always a good idea to inform your opponent during a game message of long delays in playing due to time away, etc.

Understood. Thanks.

I very much enjoyed our initial match. After the first 7 turns against your Soviets, I even told co-workers I share the game with, "My Gawd, this guy came at me with God's own Thunder." I appreciate teaching the newbie some awesome tactics. It's way too easy to get complacent against the AI, as I learned early. Every point counts so choose your battles wisely, and always look for a sneaky bastard opponent to hit you where you weren't looking. :)

I'm anxious for the rematch. I want to see how you pull off a scenario where it would appear that the Soviets can simply wear the Axis down.
