Rallying Artillery: Rare??
So, a commander may not join an artillery unit (French attached officers in 1812 excepted). There is no way to recover cohesion loss for artillery?

A a division or corps commander only needs to be within 4 MU to rally or recover a unit in their own command. There is no need to join the unit.

For some reason we had it in our heads last game the commander had to be with the unit to attempt to recover!!!

My bad had a FOG brain fart and was thinking the other rules for rallying....

It is rare. The odds are low, and first you need to dominate the ground again.
Re: Rallying Artillery: Rare??
I thought a commander only had to be within 4MU of a unit to recover cohesion, the commander did not have to attach.
Why would not any Artillery commander be able to attach to artillery ? Many armies (France, Russia) had specific Artillery generals.

Correct. Just within 4MU.paulbg wrote:I thought a commander only had to be within 4MU of a unit to recover cohesion, the commander did not have to attach.

The 1812 French list allows for artillery officers.
