Dear Crew,
As my avatar can attest, I'm a bit new to the forum. I've had the luck of purchasing the GS 2.0 version and have enjoyed it so far - albeit the AI is still very weak. I love playing the Axis, and I'm usually able to conquer France by April 1940 and then I'm curious what people do next. It seems one can either prepare for an early Barbarossa or secure the Western front as I've read in some of the reports in this forum.
Being a crypto-meglomaniac I go after England - What strategies do people employ? What beach heads does one go for? What is the best time frame for conquest? I appreciate all responses and happy gaming everyone!

Re: OPERATION SEALION
I'm no expert at Sea Lion, that's for sure, but I can tell you that there's a massive difference btw playing the computer and playing human beings. Complete apples to oranges.
You really need your landing to be within the Luftwaffe's air umbrella, so that limits your landing spots. Some try to seal the Channel with subs and go for the underbelly. Others will go for spots on the east coast of England. You need to have enough transports that your opponent cannot easily block a landing. You need to protect your transports from attacks by sea and air (esp. sea). You need to take a supply source ASAP. And you need to manage your time so that bad weather doesn't make progress impossible.
Against a computer, this isn't too tall of an order, but a competent human being will make Sea Lion very difficult if you don't have perfect execution. It can help a ton if the British lost units in France. It also helps if he's unable to get the Canadian ground and air forces into England to reinforce.
Good luck!

Re: OPERATION SEALION
Hi, there - I just became aware of the Battle Academy - Operation Sea Lion game. Are the game parameters dependent on what went ahead in the OT, a sequence of many, or is it a free-standing game?Diplomaticus wrote:I'm no expert at Sea Lion, that's for sure, but I can tell you that there's a massive difference btw playing the computer and playing human beings.
