Similar games

Post by stardustsa2012 »

Hi All, I'm brand new to the forum, sorry if this is posted in the wrong section..

I am new to strategy type games but have become obsessed and addicted to Battle academy.

I have the Ipad version - Is it worth purchasing the Pc/Mac version ? Is there a lot different ?

Can you recommend any similar games to Battle academy, with the same type of game play ?

Many Thanks
Steve

Welcome Steve!

I've moved this to the BA forum as that's the best place for suggestions I think. We don't have a huge selection on iPad/mac yet bur more games coming all the time.

You can see all our Mac games here

And iPad games here

As far as I know there isn't almost any technical difference. Maybe the graphics will be slightly (you have no shadows on iPad) better in PC/Mac.
The biggest difference for now, IMO, is that you can play right away, all the Battle Academy Add-ons/DLC in PC/Mac, and don't have to wait for them to be released on iPad.

Battle Academy is a very specific game. However you'll find some resemblances in Team Assault and also in the old Close Combat series , both for PC.

I would like also to recommend Panzer Corps and Unity of Command both for PC. In spite of having a different kind of gameplay , these two titles have three things in common with Battle Academy: they are easy to play but hard to master, highly addictive and high overall quality.
You just have to look into my avatar, to know where my preference is.
Panzer Corps will have a Mac and an iPad version.

The best game of this type was Steel Panthers - this was originally a DOS game but has now been released in a Windows version (WINSPWWW2) and can be downloaded free or bought on CD http://www.shrapnelgames.com/Camo_Works ... _page.html. You will find this more realistic, with a much wider set of scenarios. Whether is it more or less fun I leave you to decide!

If you haven't played "Company of Heroes" on your PC you should try that now, the "Gold" version is now available for next to nothing or you can play on-line for free. It is a different game in that it is a WW2 real-time strategy base builder but everything is destructable and the graphics are amazing, it is really addictive. I find this game addictive too, on the IPad, but for fantastic graphics and gameplay on the PC try Company of Heroes Gold. http://store.steampowered.com/app/4560/

All of the BA DLC is available on the iPad right now, and has been since launch :). Going forward all expansions will be available across all platforms at the same time.

Cheers
