Commander Lite ie Hand Held version (are ya interested?)

Post by lesthesarge »

For those of you in the small percentage that don't own a Nintendo DS ( :) ) this might not interest you.

For fellow DSers though, what's your interest in Commander being given a chance of making it's way to the Nintendo DS?

Crazy you say? Not really. Consider this.

Age of Empires: Age of Kings is an RTS title that was made into a turn based game from Majesco for the DS. And it's damn good too (I play it quite a lot).

Steel Horizon from Konami is a very fun WW2 naval warfare wargame for the DS, and it is very engaging as well (I play it a lot as well).

Panzer Tactics is coming out soon, and I have no doubt I will greatly love it. But, does it have to be the only game?

Recently Brothers in Arms was released for the DS, so this is a growing trend.

You might like to think the DS is just some kind of kiddie doodle of a toy, but you'd be quite mistaken.

And logically I am supporting the Nintendo DS (because I have one), but I would also like to equally support putting wargames on the PSP. Why? because hand helds are great, and when a wargame makes it to a hand held, all hand helds win, and our wargaming gets a bit further out of the small cramped niche we have for so long forced it into.

Sign up and vote for Slitherine considering a DS title. Spartan might make a fine choice. They could contemplate a Napoleonic or Civil War title too.
But it ain't going to happen unless we tell them "hey, yeah, we want more than just niched to hell PC titles".

Looking at the Commander's system requirements porting it in this case would require a major rewrite of the whole code.

Never said it would be easy :)

My knowledge of code is easily exceeded by my knowledge of rocket science. Wait a second, I actually know a lot of rocket science :) I don't know that much about code.

Not a bad idea though. Might be away to make more jack & bring in the younger generations into wargaming.
