This has probably been asked before but I can't find it.
Can a CinC have an ally of the same nationality?
Can you have 2 allies of the same nationality, but different to the CinC?
Allied hoplites are subtracted from minima. Does this mean if I take a Spartan CinC and have 24 allied hoplites I don't need any Spartan Citizens or Peroikoi?
If Spartan CinC and I take 12 allied hoplites do these come off the minima of Spartan citizens or the minimum of Peroikoi, or either, or neither.

Re: Classical Greek Allies
What if you take one of the allies that gets more LF in the allied list than are allowed to the main army.
You can't take 24 off a maximum of 18.

Re: Classical Greek Allies
An ally is limited to the minima and maxima of the ally list. The main list has minima and maxima for the whole army. Each component of the ally list must correspond to the maxima of the main list. You will note that those cities that can have a lot of LF also have a special line in the main list. Thessalian LF is separate from "other" LF. So you could have plenty of Thessalian LF under your Thessalian ally and still have "other" LF in the army. They are two separate entries. In any case you have to meet the troop minima for the CinC's nationality, so if a Spartan CinC is present, then you have to have the minima for Spartan troop types. Allied types are in addition to that.

The minimum for Thessalian Cavalry should have an asterisk, I think.

Re: Classical Greek Allies
Talking of Greeks could someone confirm this. If I field a Spartan army I get three sub generals not four, presumably to represent the "allies" of the Pelopennesian League?

Re: Classical Greek Allies
Nobody gets 4 sub generals. The maximum number of generals is 4.

Re: Classical Greek Allies
Sorry, I meant two sub generals not three. Greeks fielding three other generals than the CinC get two subs and an allied even Spartans for the reason I suggested?
