Modding stock scenarios
I was about to change a few details on a couple of scenarios that come with the grand campaign of the game. However, it seems I am not able to open these scenarios in the editor. Is this working as designed or am I doing something wrong?
I don't have any problem opening the scenarios that I have created myself.

But that doesn't affect the editor, right? Surely the problem must lie elsewhere and I think I am missing something here, I just don't know what.nikivdd wrote:I have no problems opening stock scenarios but i do use panzer corps exe v1.05b.

Re: Modding stock scenarios
Yeah you are right. Maybe the editor you use isn't the one that came with the v1.05? Otherwise i cannot think of anything else.MickMannock wrote:But that doesn't affect the editor, right? Re: Modding stock scenarios
I use the secenario editor mentioned in an announcement at the top of this forum section. I figured it was the latest one.
Re: Modding stock scenarios
Are you using Windows 7?
Re: Modding stock scenarios
If you use Win7 and your PanzerCorps has been installed into Programs then Win7 does not allow writing/editing in these files as they are within a protected area...various solutions
A.
Make a new Folder on C such like Games and drag and drop your PzC folder from Programs into Games. I recommend this for any game so they are not within programs which can cause problems on modding and saving as well as especially older games do not create save folders in MyDocuments but hold the savegame folders directly in the game directory which under Win7 can not be accessed by the application in order to write (create a save).
B.
Disable UAC...well..not really recommended

However, I wasn't trying to open the scenario from the game folder. I had made a copy of the scenario to a completely different folder (where I keep all my other scenarios which I have created myself).
Oh, and the game hasn't been installed under Programs anyway. So I don't that is the issue really. Though win7 might be the one playing tricks, that is true. Still trying to figure out how.
Re: Modding stock scenarios
thats probably the issue...if you disconnect the vanilla scenarios from the PzC by relocate them to antother folder then the editor does not know from where dragging the info to fill the senarios...MickMannock wrote:I had made a copy of the scenario to a completely different folder (where I keep all my other scenarios which I have created myself).
run the editor.exe in the vanilla game directory and open the scenarios located in PzC/data and you will see it works..keep the others as backup but edit the ones in PzC gasme directory and it will work

I've tried that too. Doesn't work either.chris10 wrote:thats probably the issue...if you disconnect the vanilla scenarios from the PzC by relocate them to antother folder then the editor does not know from where dragging the info to fill the senarios...MickMannock wrote:I had made a copy of the scenario to a completely different folder (where I keep all my other scenarios which I have created myself).

Re: Modding stock scenarios
Hmm... Does the editor need to read any other files at the same times as I edit the .pzscn-file? I mean, should I make sure to have other files in the same folder as the .pzscn-file?
Re: Modding stock scenarios
The pzloc files for sure, and they're in /data too of course. As well as the equipment file.
Then I'd assume the editor has to read anything that is editable, like terrain and unit graphics for example. Though the latter are in their own folders. But I guess he still needs to access them.
But I can't imagine lacking those would prevent the editor from opening an scn at all. The worst I get when lacking units (for example with certain mods) is either that the editor gives "invalid unit" on the map, or does a CTD.
Unfortunately I don't know about Win7, so I can't be of help there...

Are you also using the editor that you can download in the sticky thread in this sub-forum?nikivdd wrote:I use v1.05b and run win 7 64bit and i have no problems editing stock scenario's. I even used 2 of them in GTPG.
I tried running the editor as administrator too, but that didn't help either.
Re: Modding stock scenarios
Actually i don't remember.
The file i use was made on september 19th, 2011 and modified on december 1th, 2011.

Seems like I'm not using the latest version or am I interpreting things wrong? Where can I download the latest version anyhow?

Problem solved. A moderator can close this thread now.
Thanks for the help everyone!
