On the beaches scenario

Post by tmoj2000 »

Firstly the description does not really correspond to the scenario: the brits are not "outnumbered" as claimed and the german reinforcements are not really "gradually increasing" (not to mention that the brits also get reinforcements)...

But my question is why the scenario does not stop when the germans take their 5 objectives ??????

As is the germans can take the whole map, kill twice as many brits (the brits have over 40 units) but still lose if their losses reach 20

Well the British troops are outnumbered to begin with and have to use a mobile defence to be successful, as the Germans are able to achieve a local superiority otherwise. In my version, only guns with anti-tank capability can shoot at the German mobile flak wagons, which means that if they stand back they can shoot up the British defences all they like. I find that it can be touch and go until the British reinforcements arrive, although moving all the British forces to defend the beaches allows you to mow down the German infantry for little or no unit loss eventually (as long as you guess right where they are going to hit next). It is reasonable that if the Germans take their objectives but have few troops left then they would have lost the campaign due to the British ability to easily replace their losses in the long run - and also that was the British strategy, to wear down and slow down the Germans - if the Germans have lost more than half their force, then the British strategy is succeeding.
