Tank Destroyers.

I did not use anti-tank units at first, didn't even try until Bagration - I bought a few Jagdtigers, green, and was disappointed. Then I read in the forums someone said, "having experienced anti-tank units later in the game can be very rewarding." That fellow was right. I find, once the Nashorn comes out, that my anti-tanks outperform tanks vs. tanks consistently. It just gets better from there.

i have a elefant with a +1 movement hero - and this beast is very useful in stopping the first wave of the reds in dlc 44...

had 4 x Jagdpanther and 3 x Elephant in 44' made the defensive scenarios much easier with arty backup. worked great for the offensive parts as well with their heroes stats 8)

I've never considered having that many AT. Cool. What were their experience/hero bonuses?

I have: 1x Jagdpanther, exp-554, 2205 kills, A3,D3, i3
1x Jagdtiger, exp-523, 2015 kills, A2,D2,M1
1x Jagdpanzer IV L/70, exp-430, 891 kills, A6, i3


Note, I did, uh, slightly modify the parameters for when-to-get heroes.

my spats: at the Vilna deploy turn

44th Elefant 303 exp, 382 kills +1 spotting
45th Elefant 243 exp, 354 kills +2 attack
48th Elefant 248 exp, 341 kills +2 ini

5th Jagdpanther 495 exp, 1309 kills +1 attack, +1 movement "my baby from Poland"
22nd Jadgpanther 502 exp, 1253 kills +1 attack, +1 attack "super killer"
50th Jadgpanther 429 exp, 768 kills +1 defense
51st Jadgpanther 425 exp, 855 kills +2 attack

a real balanced out group I believe. tried to keep the Elefants in one group for defense and the Jagdpanzers were eating Bear meat as soon as they could go on the offensive with the Panthers :D

this time around I'm using panzers with the one spat from Poland. will depend on panzers this time. wanted to see what spats would do and once they can get to the heavies, they are fun :mrgreen:

edit: I almost forgot one of the best damn units of my Core!!!!!

37th SU-122(r) 454 exp, 382 kills +2 defense

captured this baby at Buzinovka Depot 1942 and these guys can cook!!!!! saw no reason to upgrade this unit from day one of capture. fast and saved my bacon a few times as a spat :D

Thanks, El Condoro. I'm in the midst of GC/DLC 42, so will the changes be effective when I change the pzdat or does it need to be at the beginning of the current campaign?

I'm not sure if update 1.05b is for anything but the Eqp file. I know that for most everything all I have to do is exit to windows and restart for changes to take effect, like graphics/audio.

Jaggy, set the kills-min and kills-max to a definite number, the same definite number - whichever amount you are closest to, for testing purposes, say 700, then exit to windows and restart the game. (If you're using windows 7 you may have to take ownership of the files in order to alter them at all.) You WILL get a hero as soon as you reach the min/max number of kills, if the changes took. If they don't get a hero, and you can verify the file retained your changes, then they will take effect on the next scenario.

Note, I've learned to save constantly, file editing being one of the reasons. Save at the end of every scenario, right before you select endturn. This way, you can go back to the moment before you load up the new EQP file. This is assuming you have the latest update. Without the update it is much more difficult.

Nice, dks.

I think that the SU-122 has pretty good suppression performance, at least vs. soft targets. I lowered its range to 2 - it was either that or increase range of some German SPA.

I experienced a Russian SU-122 took 1 point off my Tiger 2 by defensive fire. That's pretty good, considering they usually bounce off or miss past a certain point. I'd like a captured SU-152. I left their range at 3, to make them more scary.

Bit confused about SU-122(r) that’s artillery piece is it not?

It's a dual purpose weapon. Like the 88 AA gun is also an anti-tank gun if you hit the switch button.
