Questions about the Tutorial

Post by Beakie »

Having bought this game at xmas time this is the first chance I've really had to sit down and look at it. All I can say is WOW. Only 3 Scenarios into the tutorial. But, some Questions have already come to mind. Forgive me if they have been answered before somewhere...

1. Do Any of the Core Units I buy now carry over to the other campaigns or are they gone after the Tutorial? I know they will carry over in the other Campaigns...

2. In the 3rd Scenario I was given a bridging unit I put it on a River Hex and went to move a tank over it but, the Tank couldn't move across without stopping in the River Hex (Note: it was not a matter of movement points I had the tank wait a turn next to the Bridging Unit to make sure, that was not the problem.) I thought going across a bridging Unit negated the movement penalty for Units allowing them to move their full movement as if there was no river. Am I wrong? or what did I do wrong? Or, is their a button to drop the bridge or something along those lines I missed? Please help....

3. Is their any reason to waste Elite Replacements on Aux. Units? At this point it doesn't seem to me their is much point to it, as they are gone after the battle. Am I correct in this thinking that I should save all my Prestige for Core Units?

#1 No. Tutorial is independent of other campaigns.
#2 The bridge unit is placed directly on top of a river and a tank unit then drives over the bridge unit as if it was a bridge. If your tank is having a problem crossing to the opposite side, enemy Zone of Control may be interfering with travel. That's a common issue of that tutorial scenario, given the small size of the map.
#3 Not really. Aux units are typically fodder that is gone after the scenario, so no need to give them elite replacements. However this is not always the case. In some multiplayer scenarios and DLC campaigns, AUX units are pretty important units and sometimes do warrant keeping alive (sometimes mission objectives revolve around keeping AUX units alive, for example)

Thanks again for the quick response.....

And, you're right my problem with the Bridging Unit was a matter of ZOC which for some reason i completely forgot about with that Tank Unit.

About the Aux Unit Versus Elite Replacement question I assume you mean longer Scenarios such as may be in Russia later on?

Yes, I think Kerensky meant those ones and MP scenarios. Occasionally I give replacements to Aux units, but not Elite.
