Help Function Tutorial Video Problems

Post by MrsWargamer »

As the title suggests, I am having extreme troubles with the Tutorial Videos built into the Help function.

On my first opening of the game it severely compromised my system (an Asus laptop which has proven more than capable in the game world).

Mouse control was almost totally locked up, had trouble getting into Task manager just to execute any form of cease and desist function. The program seems to do quite the complete job of locking up the computer. I get audio eventually and it appears the video shows up in time, but not before really mangling my control of the system.

That is currently my only complaint with Help. It seems like the other tabs are good for info access (which escaped my VERY brief glance yesterday).

Can't comment further on game play (sadly been too distracted by life not letting me play :( ).

Will I hope have some better chances very soon.

Using Windows 7 Ultimate on a rig with no shortage of ram or processor muscle.

Yeah that seems to be completely bugged. Doesn't really matter though, you can just open the videos inside C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Team Assault\Game\Files\Video (for standard installation directory)

Does it make a difference if the game is full screen or in window mode? You can change that setting in the game’s options menu screen – middle column – at the top.

I happen to play on a laptop that is not all that great with graphics and if I have it in window mode, the tutorials work – but in full screen mode they won’t. no idea why that would be like that – but it is for me.

Tried the Windows mode suggestion, the video initiates sooner and seems to improve the situation. I would thus recommend this for anyone that does not have a computer with spastically powerful innards :) (doubt it would be an issue on a buddy's desktop for instance).

The tutorials by the way are well spoken and clear. They are worth sitting and watching through them (unless the gamer is one of those persons that prefers to waste a lot of good game time on poor performance from low understanding of what is going on :)).

Well said DSWargamer - well said

Also - if you want to watch them totally outside of the game, they are here
C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Team Assault\Game\Files\Video\

And I do believe they are on Youtube -- with a link from one of the thread here -- but I can't find it right now.

Yes. We have some problems with getting those videos working correctly at places. We apologize for this and we'll look for a solution.

Other then that, I personally can't do anything else then to agree with you guys about that it's very good that all that can take their time to watch the tutorials. Helps a lot when playing for the first time (hopefully as much as they are intended to) :)
