Re: DLC '44 #3: Narva
Continuing my campaign. Preset core, FM. DV at turn 18. Ending prestige 2689.
This map is quite easy if you don't want to go on the offensive. At mid game, I started to cross the Narva. For this reason, I transformed an auxiliary unit to bridge engineer, to help me cross the river. I was able to keep 8 auxiliary units alive, before I installed my units near the bridges of Narva.
Enjoying map. What is perhaps strange, is that the new T34-85 arrived at the northern part of the map, instead of trying to stop my advance on the east bank of the river from the south. Perhaps, it could be more interesting to put these units in southern hexes.
I found a unit (SU 122) in the southern city, but was not able to capture the northern cities (Kerstovo, Koshkino and Kallivere).
I hope that one day we would be able to capture SU 152...
Nice and enjoying map. You can really keep your unit away from fights, if you stay on the left bank of the Narva river.

Rommel - pre-build core
Starting with 0.5k prestige after selective repairs, but gave myself another 1k since there seems to be a problem with prestige from transports in the Korsun pocket sceanrio (basically only the first and the last one will count if you moved them from the airfields - maybe even 1.5k prestige since I had 5 transports, but I will stick with 1k here).
Upgraded a Pz IVH with a +1 movement hero to a Panther A and bought a SdKfz 7/2 leaving me with 0.6k.
Started to cross the Navra at turn 7 in the south, but a DV is already out of reach due to losing too many aux units to sometimes fairly crazy die rolls - and me partially underestimating the danger, the heavy attacks from the south came as a surprise.
Against those heavy Soviet tanks (especially ISU-122) I will have to overstrength at least some Panzer again, otherwise it is fairly tough to go against them (at least without some serious/time consuming preparations).
Captured a SU-122 in Chernovskoye at turn 15 and penetrated the Soviet line at Kingisepp.
Took Kerstovo at turn 18, but failed to get the airfield.
MV at 18/18 with 2.8k prestige - since I wasnt able to get to the aux units before too many of them have been killed by a combination of ground attacks and airpower - most likely I should have blancketed the city in fighters and made a more serious push towards the city with my groundforces, but even then it might have been close with the RNG acting as it did.
The rate of gaining heroes seems too low again for the pre-build core.

3069 Starting Prestige
Have still to make serious repairs and replace many units lost.
Let's see how this will turn out.
Edit: Starting with 1160 Prestige, bought two StuG IV and a sIG self-propelled artillery.
Edit2: Making very good progress, I am even able to launch a counter-offensive in the North (bought a Bridge Engineer). Lots of options here, not too difficult. Seems to be a (much needed) "breather" scenario. I find the scenario in general VERY NICE. Not only because I am not getting clobbered this time.
-> I will start a thread about StuG IV and StuH42.
Edit3: Finished without losses, didn't recover as much Prestige as I wanted. <- OLD V1 BETA; tomorrow I will continue this save with V2 and the next scenario.

Re: DLC '44 #3: Narva
I wasn't crazy about this scenario. It seemed boring compared to the thrilling 'Korsun Breakout' scenario before. Basically I stationed a some tank destroyers and arty at the two southern crossings and watched the Reds smash themselves to bits against my JagdTigers. I used my Panthers and a few infantry to take out those pesky bridging units. I tried a few forays across the river mid-scenario, but my PzIIIs got swarmed and I had to pull them back.
The battle for Narva was tough. I couldn't rescue the garrison as my relief force arrived about a turn too late. In the North the battle was basically a grind to clear out that marshy area South of Narva while I used infantry and artillery to push into the city and recapture the victory hexes. I only lost one Pioniere unit in this scenario, but I had to stop using only Elite reinforcements in the interest of conserving prestige. The biggest annoyances were the Soviet AA units. I mean those wore down my fighters big time. I had to use a lot of prestige to repair them in the face of the air onslaught (the Red airforce was a major pain too). The AA saturation made it impossible for me to send my Stukas across the river to interdict their reinforcements.
I got a MV on 18/18, with about 2k prestige to finish.
