Lost Commanders

Post by hazelbark »

p 66 & 67

Ok Corps falls, division rises to take his place. I presume you can choose which.

A brigade commander can rise to fill the division position.

So if a Division becomes Corps and there was no brigade commander, do you get a new division commander or not?
If you lose a division commander and have no brigade commander, do you get a new division commander?

It says "..loses that commander's ability until next Recovery phase, at which time a replacement is available."
Then it only talks about other circumstances.

Now I presume a division commander who is lost or promoted is replaced per next recovery.
1) Is that true?
2) does it say it anywhere?

All commanders are relaced at the end of the at the end of the next recovery phase.
A corps commander is replpaced by a divisional commander and the divisional commander is replaced by a 'competent' commander for free (by promoting an unnamed junior).
If the division losing its commander has an attached officer with any of its units he may be sacrifiecd to replace the commander at the begining of the recovery phase rather than the end. The only benefit gained is that you don't miss your ability to recover a unit during that recovery phase, so you may wish to leave him where he is.

The 2 following sentences are the relevent ones.
"If a Corps Commander or a Division Commander becomes a casualty, the owner loses that commander’s abilities until the end of his next Recovery Phase, at which time a replacement is available."
"If the Division Commander has any unit within his command that has an attached Brigade Commander, he may sacrifice him to replace his Division Commander at the beginning of his next Recovery Phase rather than at the end."
