Attack/Defence

Post by BrettPT »

The bullet points on the right hand side of page 94 cover restrictions on movement (no non-skirmisher movement to the rear for the attacker & limited forward movement for the defender, for the first two turns).

Do these restrictions apply to all games or just when the attacker scores 3+ higher on the initiative roll?

Cheers

It applies n all games (makes up for having a hill to sit on).
The +3 initiative 'only' gives you an extra unit, and your opponent +2 to his ACV.

Thanks Terry

Just a follow-up question regarding the 'free' 40 point unit(s) for 3+ initiative games.

Page 94 says the unit(s) "...can be of any type or size." It goes on to say "If an army list does not contain any bases ..." Read together these rules suggest the extra unit(s) have to come from your list (ie you cannot 'invent' a unit).

1. I assume that the extra unit(s) have to fit inside your maximiums (ie if your army allows 8 Dragoon bases, and these you already have these, your free unit cannot be an extra Dragoon regiment). Is this correct?

2. Can you include attachments in the extra unit(s)?

3. If you have an allied division, or an attached division from another list (ie an Austrian Reserve Division in an Austrian Infantry Corps), can the additonal unit(s) come from the allied/other list?

Cheers

Yes
2. Can you include attachments in the extra unit(s)?
Yes - as long as you don't break the rules of that army list,
3. If you have an allied division, or an attached division from another list (ie an Austrian Reserve Division in an Austrian Infantry Corps), can the additonal unit(s) come from the allied/other list?
I've never even considered going this, but yes - as long as it is within the permritted allowance.
