Running 4 BG's of MF shooters last night against 3 on my opponents side they didn't feel too weak with 1.5 dice. There were however very few LF on the field. I still think that LF shooters are possibly too good compared to MF.
It still rankles slightly that a BG of 6 gets 3 dice at long range and only 4 at effective, it is hardly much of a jump is it.
The acheivement of the evening was a BG of longbow who stood in the open and beat off a BG of armoured knights. OK they were only ARMOURED which is a bid difference and I shot a base off and disrupted them on the way in and then I rolled a bit better than the knights in close combat. I could very easily have gone down in a heap and the longbow are about the best missile troops in the game.

Re: MF shooters
This presupposes that each BG shoots at one target and one target only. If you have 2 BGs of 6 side by side, you may be able to get 8 bases shooting at one target, and hence 6 dice.hammy wrote:Running 4 BG's of MF shooters last night against 3 on my opponents side they didn't feel too weak with 1.5 dice. Or you could choose to have 3 BGs of 8 instead of 4 of 6.
Sounds historical to me. As we know, longbowmen were usually deployed in terrain or behind stakes. The acheivement of the evening was a BG of longbow who stood in the open and beat off a BG of armoured knights. Re: MF shooters
true but at present I only have 12 bases of longbowmen and while 16 or 24 would be nice I would have to find 36 points or more from somewhere...rbodleyscott wrote:This presupposes that each BG shoots at one target and one target only. Exactly, I only realised after I deployed my army that I hadn't remembered to pay for the stakesrbodleyscott wrote:Sounds historical to me. I wasn't complaining, but felt that it was worth reproting that it didn't take too much for longbow to beat off armoured knights. Heavily armoured knights would definitely have me scrabling for stakes.
