Army Lists in the next two books

Post by MikeHorah »

People might like to know that in the two books of lists we make provision in many of the lists for one or more divisions to be employed or imported from other lists (still within the overall maximum of 4 divisions for a standard game). This is particularly important for reserve cavalry corps and Guard Corps (especially French and Russians but also Austrians). Some lists or groups of lists allow for an even wider mix of divisions from different lists, for example, in 1792-95 in Holland and Belgium the British, Hanoverians, Dutch and Austrians all operated together, and in late 1813 many of the allied nations operated in mixed corps.

These imported divisions are not necessarily treated as allies with an allied commander. For example the Spanish with a British army are usually treated as allies, but the Portuguese are not. French cavalry and Guards imported into a French Infantry Corps obviously do not count as allies, Russians and Austrians likewise. Hanoverians are not treated as allies when under British command but are allies when under Austrian command.

This provides a much richer mix of options for many campaigns and armies than constructing a single Corps from a single list.

It was not possible to do this for the selection of lists in the main rulebook (8 from about 150 in total) as we had ensure that lists from all of the major combatants were available with the rules from the start .
