Newbie to Field of Glory and Wargames

Post by nbstokes »

I just bought FOG and haven't really played it yet. Is there a tutorial? What would you recommend I should do in my learning the system and/or game?

Are the addons needed?

Any resources out there for my use?

Thanks!

Welcome to FoG. The best place to start is by reading the FoG wiki: http://fog-pc-wiki.wikispaces.com

I play with all of the info boxes set to verbose so I can see everything in the combat calculations. The POA system is the heart of the game, so understanding those interactions is critical. Once you're able to beat the AI (not too difficult) head directly to multi-player and ask for some coaching.

You should get at least one expansion dictated by your favorite period. I recomend IF or RoR for starters, or SoA if you like medieval,

As Deeter says, check out the wiki to learn the little tricks that can tip the balance in your favour. I would recommend that you don't spend too long playing DAG battles against the AI - it plods and can lead you into bad habits that will get you punished against human players :)

To echo Deeter again, get online and play some games against people who are willing to help you out and will tell you what is going on!

Cheers.
