How can a group of pike EVER catch light infantry in the open? Happened in my game today. I find this totally impossible.
They were marked "Always Evade" but got caught anyway.
Tip: If units are going to be marked "Always Evade" just reduce their fire. Best of both worlds. They do not sit there chewing up the opposition but they also do not get run down by a group of slow moving pikemen too.

They were in a stream hex. Does that make a dif.? Would be good to know for future playing.
Re: Pike and Lt Foot
Evading in terrain slows you down, i think that applies to lights too. And sometimes the unit making the pursuit gets a "bonus" on movement capability. So maybe that is what happened. Being a HF speaks of very bad luck for you anyway.

The heavy foot should automatically Disorder for the terrain AND breaking ranks to run down light infantry. But its just a fun game and this is not a rant.

Re: Pike and Lt Foot
How about - any evaders are automatically destroyed if caught. Heavy foot should not have to charge lights to remove them - just push them out of the way. Sick and tired of evaders winning a combat.

I had a Light unit get trapped against a lake after five turns it was still hanging onto the shorline.
I guess they fought with an undying tenacity.

It has happened to me too on the TT with Pikes vs Roman Velites. All depends on how bad your virtual dice rolls are. If the LF roll a 1 and the HF roll a 6 your lights can get caught, and normally they should be slaughtered unless the combat dice roll 1 for the heavies and 6's for the lights
