Progress report:
I decided to follow strategies by Leigh-Mallory (Big Wing) and Guderian (Nicht kleckern, sondern k(l)otzen.):
All my aircraft were covering my advancing Tigers and Panthers which were covered by SPAA, Artillery and StuGs who were meant to close in for the kill after the Tigers sufficiently weakened Soviet Armor. This works well so far, but my airforce is still costing me a lot of Prestige to repair.
I didn't deploy any units in the northwestern corner of the map and only few units behind the river on the southeastern side. Rzhev or something like that. Didn't think a KV-1c would attack, but I contained the attack. The major problem was the two flak-tanks shooting at my aircrafts trying to repair there! I needed some fighters as a Sturmovik was harassing my tanks there.
Major issue -> The AI moved WEAK units into the river and didn't attack/try to cross the river! This has been reported before and it made things considerably easier.
I bought SPAA and StuGs but had 2 core slots left.
So far I lost only a recon unit and one infantry. Things are going well, I am 12 turns in and it might even be enough for a decisive victory. As the player gets ~200 Prestige per turn injections despite this being an assault scenario I see no reason to rush things.

Turn 22/22, Marginal Victory
622 Prestige
conquered Prokhorovka but was far away from the city in the left upper corner, K.... - apparently the disadvantage of not starting with any troops there.
The final turns were harsh as I got attacked by monster tanks, 14-15 strength and in the final turn I even lost a Tiger. Several StuGs got lost.
Oh well guess that was the greatest tank battle in history. I feel sufficiently beaten up and hope things get better now.

Re: Prokhorovka 43 V2
General, imported 1942 DLC Beta core. DV on 22/22 (could have been on 20/22 but I wanted the extra prestige from capturing the two remaining air fields (and I wanted to kill some more soviets after the bashing they gave me). This was a challenging scenario, mostly because of the large map. There is no way to be overwhelmingly strong everywhere, so I had to be very careful about keeping my forces concentrated to respond to counter attacks. It was looking good until the 5th Guards Tank army showed up! What a massive battle. I was able to destroy them but at a high cost. I lost one SE PzIVH. A 14 strength unit smashed by repeated attacks. I think the scenario is well balanced and representative of the actual battle. Well done!
