Favorite scenario??

Post by 2010sjones2010 »

Well most of us hard gamers will have finished all four DLC’s ’39, ’40, ’41, and ’42 and the main game by now so this would be a good time to find out what your favorite scenarios and why.

In the main game Norway was always my favorite due to the naval combat and I always found Sea Lion a great tactical challenge. However the new DLC’s have brought a new dimension with a variety of scenario objectives rather than just ‘beating’ the Allies, the ability to ‘capture’ units and the ability to attain special camouflaged units to brighten up the screen. :P

In the ’39 DLC my favorite scenario was Piatek as I enjoy scenarios that make you have to last the distance and defend your ground. :?

In the ’40 DLC my favorite scenario was The Hague as I enjoyed saving the paratroopers and then going on the offensive!

In the ‘41 DLC my favorite scenario was Demyansk Pocket due to the fact that you had to defend the right flank while you could go on the attack on the left flank and overrun all the Russian Airfields. At the same you needed to get the airlifts completed with a blanket of snow on the ground! :D (Closely followed by the Streets of Moscow which was a great tactical battle).

In the ‘42 DLC my favorite scenario was Stalingrad Ruins (A tough choice as there were five scenarios I thought were superb in this DLC). This was a great tactical battle which incorporated defense as well as attack and was the closest I ever came to losing a core unit. It took me over four hours to complete and was thoroughly enjoyable. Overall this is my favorite scenario so far.

All scenarios were played as Field Marshall with weather and supply on but no fog of war.

Heh this is tough, even I have my scenario preferences.

I definitely agree with Piatek though, that scenario is the crowning achievement of DLC 1939, at least I think. It was the first defense map of its kind in Panzer Corps that wasn't just spirit crushing Bagration, and it proved the usefulness of the new triggers.

I'd have to say, so far, my all time favorite scenario is Kharkov42 though, from DLC 1942.
I talk about it a little bit in this thread. :D

It's just an amazing combination of good game play with defensive and offensive elements, good history with the game battle actually playing out similar to the historical battle (blunt Soviet offensive, then encircle it, and finally crush it), and it just provided an overall amazing experience.

I cant say I have just one. Overall I tend to enjoy the larger maps where I have to load alot of units in transports to move them forward. Always running a large infantry and towed support core, I find those type of battle most fun to play.
