Laptop Fan and Unit Movement

Post by JWoods »

2 different issues/questions

1. Sometimes the unit gets a mind of it's own and moves. I do not mean overruns but rather if I do not release the mouse button very fast after attack it will move more than one hex like it moves it's allotted movement points if any. Sometimes I have to reload obviously and can be very annoying.

2. My laptop fan comes on a lot especially during the AI movement. Actually all the time during AI movement. Sony Vaio quad core/Nvidia 330m Graphics 1 year old.Game plays fine and it does not feel like it is overheating. Can be/is very annoying. Only this game also.

Any ideas appreciated.

Hi.
I don't remember anyone reporting those issues. It would be logic to assume that in the case of the AI movement, it's when the CPU will be stressed and thus increase the fan rotation.... but I've never experienced that in the dozens of machines and desktops in which I have run the game. Therefore something is interfering with the game.
So in first place, I would like you to disable your Internet Security Program (Antivirus) and run the game.
If that don't work, go into Panzer Corps folder and rename sublfolders"Audio" to "_Audio" and "Video" to "_Video". You won't have any sound, but that's just to check if you're not having a codec conflict.
Third, in case of any of those don't work, just enter in Windows Safe Mode and try to run the game and check if it's the same is happening.
Please report back.

Hi,

I disabled AVG AND I ran no background programs. Sometimes Firefox can be a bit of a resource hog. I still get the fan coming on. I did a search and it seems the Vaio does have this noisy fan problem. What I do not understand a game I also play Fallout New Vegas which is way more graphically intensive DOES not make the fan work hard. The laptop is on a hard surface and it is raised to permit airflow. Oh well it hurts nothing just can be annoying

Thanks

That would indicate that the CPU is kinda overloaded, or less likely lack of RAM.
