Cost of upgrade

Post by ivanov »

I am during my first DLC campaign and have been really suprised to find out recently, that the cost of the unit upgrade equals the full price of the new unit of the same type. Wouldn't it be more appropiate to pay just the difference between the old and new unit types? Right now, a purachase of a completely "green" unit ( that reflects the cost of training and the cost of the hardware ),is exactly the same, as the cost of the veteran unit upgrade, to the same type of equipment ( which in theory should reflect only the cost of the new hardware ).

It depends on what you're upgrading. For instance, all the tanks in the PzIII and the PzIV series are upgradeable by paying only the difference in prestige. Same for the Bf 109s, Ju 87s, all the artillery, infantry -> grenadier, etc.

You have to pay full price to upgrade outside a family, for instance, a PzI to a PzII or P38(t), or to upgrade a towed artillery to a sturmpanzer, or to upgrade a Bf 109 to a FW 190.

I was upgrading the Sturmpanzer I to Wurfrahmen 40. In general I like the idea, because it makes the upgrading more costly. Still - it feels a little strange that buying a new unit has exactly the same cost as the unit upgrade in some cases.

As said before;

Upgrades from the same "family" don't cost that much.
Upgrades from another "family" actually is not an upgrade, it is a whole new unit!!
