Heroes bonuses

Hi mates, would like to know if the heroes bonuses apply to all instances of that stat. For example : does a +2 Defense hero bonus apply for all types (hard,soft, close) of defense? does a +3 Attack unit add the bonus to hard or soft or naval or air , or all of them at the same time? Thank you for your answers.

There was another thread sometime ago that confirmed that this is correct. So it is a pretty big deal actually to get those attack and defense heroes.
