GC'42 Game Freeze

Game freezes (repeatedly) on DLC GC'42 Buzinovka Depot scenario when captured SU122 appears and is selected for movement. SS Mod enabled.

However I would warn airbornemongo in his thread about this bug and he could remove the trait "nopurchase" in his equipment file, and that way I think you could play it without crashing.
Or if you feel comfortable in editing files, you could edit yourself the equipment.pzeqp file, located in Data folder and remove the nopurchase trait from that AT unit. It's the SU-122(r) entry referent to the german_SU-122_AT.png.

I appreciate your timely response! The "spec unit" thread was helpful and I ended up editing the equip file. Was going to remove the SU-122 using "editor" with some regret for it would be rather cool to have a 122mm in the inventory... (BTW, same freeze issue in SS-GTPG Mod scenario 22).

Still stunned you had the time to respond so quickly ~ I can imagine your workload is overwhelming.

Well, we've a pretty good community here. So we're always trying to help each other.
Someone, like me, who spent some time in the forums, ends up knowing these little things.
Although El_Condoro (other moderator) knows a lot of scenario editing I know about other things, so we complement each other, rather well.
But this forum almost don't need moderators, and in situations like yours, someone would end up in answering you. :wink:

Freeze

Same map, same unit, same mod before...uninstalled and reinstalled game from zero. Edited equip file, like you said up...still frozen; if i use endscn 0 game show me the next windows and after redirect me on main menu, like the campain is finished. When i click any voice (exit, new, load, etc), freeze again. Pls help.

Have you edited the right SU-122? It's the AT unit.
And which equipment file did you edit? The one from the mod or vanilla?
Are you loading a save of that scenario?

Hi corneliul. Can you list the mods that you are using, please? Can you play the game without any mods installed? Which mod/campaign are you playing?

The cause of the problem with the switching units is when both are set to have the 'nopurchase' trait. If you edit one of them to be purchasable the problem ceases - if that is your problem.

[Note: it's late here in Australia and I won't be answering until tomorrow, so expect a delay of 7-9 hours from me, though someone else may be able to help.]

Having this problem as well and i have found the equipment file and deleted no purchase but still have the problem could anyone show us what the lines are meant to look like after the alteration. Sorry if this is a stupid question but it's been a longtime since i messed about with things like this so not sure what i am doing lol.

Are you using the SS mod?

In the equipment file of the SS MOD just erase the nopurchase in german_SU-122_AT.png.
Better to use the Mark Garnett's equipment editor, because it won't erase the tab.

Thanks for the heads up guys

I have a question

I'm almost positive that the Stug IV,Stuh 42 and the 8.8cm,as well as the 12.8cm (I made that dual switch) all have the non-purchase trait for their "dual role".

IE: You can buy the 8.8cm Flak,,but you cannot buy it's dual role the "8.8cm Pak36"

Why is the SU-122 the only one having the issue?

I'm gonna look into this......

I don't know.

I've tested and edited your equipment file, and after erasing in one SU-122 the nopurchase trait, it won't freeze anymore. :)

As far i understood the problem is that the other units (Stug IV,Stuh 42, 8.8cm and 12.8cm) only have the nopurchase flag at one version of the switched unit while the SU-122 had the flag set for both versions. So in short having one of the switched version nopurchase is fine, having both of them flaged as such seems to cause crashes.

I had a look at the efile, airborne, and notice there are 3 units, one of which is the SU-122, that have a trait of 'primary'. There is no trait of 'primary' even though it is mentioned in the thread on traits. The reason it was there was just to separate the main (primary) unit from the secondary switchable unit. Not sure if removing 'primary' will help but it's a start.

Edit: you have more than 3 with the trait - I'd remove them all.

Thanks VP for the test,,,,just woke up and I feel like I didn't even sleep :?

I'll erase the non-purchase from the AT version of the SU-122 in the SS Mod,,the SE Heer Mod,and the Elite Units and post it tonight or tommorow

Has anybody done a fix for the vanilla equip yet?,,if they haven't I'll post a vanilla 1.05 fix also

But with vanilla it didn't freeze me. I would remove the primary trait, like El_Condoro said and I would see how it works.

You don't have to erase the unit, airborne.

Oops. When I said "remove them all" I meant just the 'primary' trait not the whole unit. :)
