Seriously though, when you say "M" penalty " I assume you mean for Mixed unit class?

basically , only medium foot support missle cause a penalty, and only to defensive or offensive spear units, the assumption being that spears need deeper ranks of actual spearmen to get the spear POA. Medium support in other types like heavy weapons really have no detremental effect. Light foot support bows, like the Dailami , have no negatives at all, they are better and cost the same...... Now looking at those lists , I feel the authors should have signicantly reduced the # of those that can get the lf bow atached or only give as an option for protected, something to offset the xtra value since there is no good reason to take the non bow dudes at all...
