Prototype units instead of bonus
I have a quesition about the bonuses
I want to know if I can award a unit w/o it be classified as a bonus unit
I'm thinking of awarding units as "prototypes" (via the existing vanilla SE bonus system) ala' PG2). The awarded unit would be given to the player 2-3 months before the player can purchase them,,but (and here's my problem) I want to them not to be a bonus unit. I want the "prototype" to be counted as a core unit.
Here is my example:
The player is awarded a Tiger in late 1941 (the availablity date is 1942) as "bonus",,but I want it to count as a core.
I know that I could place it on the map and allow the player to find it,,like the devs do w/ the captured units in the DLC'S,,but I want to award it thru the bonus system,,w/o it being a true bonus unit.
Is this possible??.
I don't think it is,,but I figured I would ask
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I think you would have to place it on the map as a core unit. There is no need to hide it like in the DLCs though. I've thought about doing this myself like when a Brilliant Victory was achieved in PG2. The problem is that a separate map would need to be created for a DV with the Tiger on it. Not hard to do but it can be a pain in the development stage when you're trying to keep both the standard and the DV map the same.
Units with the 'bonus' trait will not count against the core so I can't think of any other way to give bonus units.

I have to concur with El_Condoro.
Another option might be...perhaps ask Rudankort...to add an extra parameter in the startscreen of a scenario or a campaign where you could switch SE units count on or off.

I'm not gonna bother them w/ it.
Maybe in the future

Re: Prototype units instead of bonus
I don't exactly understand what you want but there are several options.
1., If you want it as SE units with the rules of SE units (random appearing) you can edit or add new SE units as prototypes. You have to change the availability dates when you want it to appear.
2., As normal core unit and as a reward.
If you make a campaign you should make two scenarios: one where the player will not awarded with a unit (for example Budapest.pzscn, and an another one where the gift unit will be given (like Budapest_Extra.pzscn). You set it so that if the player made a DV than he goes to Budapest_Extra, when he made only a MV than on Budapest.
Now you edit so the Budapest_Extra scn that you place the extra unit anywhere. Leave it as core unit. Add a trigger that it appears on turn 1. Now the unit will appear on turn 1 and the player get the extra unit.
I hope this helps. If you have further questions feel free to ask.

Only at the first scn of the campaign. Later it will not appear - at least I had such experimences.
El_Condoro wrote:^that's right. There's no need to set the trigger, though; as a core unit it will appear on the map as soon as the deployment screen is closed. Just make sure you set the prototype on a non-deployment hex.

I tried it right now: put some core units on the map. But they didn't show up after the deployment phase (so in turn 1).
El_Condoro wrote:Hmmm I'd better test it more then. In my Red Dawn 2 campaign the second scenario has core units added. They don't show up in the deployment phase but appear as soon as the deployment screen is closed. Will test some more.
