How easy is it this game to learn?

Tired of buying complex games like HOI 3 that don't teach you how to play. How difficult is this game to learn?
Just worried because I see similar icons to HOI 3. Thank you..

What he said. You can start playing immediately vs. the computer, and you'll learn a ton every game. Some of us have been playing for years and are still interested and challenged.

100% true.
Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.

I would recommend reading the CEaW Grand Strategy Manual. The manual contains specific section on Tactics and Strategies to help you learn to play and play well very quickly. Indeed, in the version 2.1 that will be coming out there is a section for New Players that has been added.

This is an excellent, addictive game. The first one I've played in a long time that captures the 'just one more turn' feeling. I'd say its easy to moderate to learn and, like the others said, hard to master.

The A/I is giving me fits so far and thats a good thing!

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up buying and it is pretty easy to learn so far and is pretty enjoyable.
The only thing that I have found I don't like is the rigid screen resolution.
The fact I have to change my computers resolution just to play in a full screen seems a little ridiculous but not a deal breaker.

Good choice...i have to agree with all of the above...been playing this game for almost 2 years now and thanks to the developers and Beta testers this game is still in progress. After you have knocked your head against the computer a couple of times, i strongly suggest that you start PBEM against an beginner opponent. That is the real fun of the game to go up against humans and not the rigid/narrowness thinking of a computer.

Can also be worth to check out some of the AARs....valuable tips and suggestions

Good luck and feel free to ask questions in the forum

Ditto comments above. Just bought the game 3 days ago (& have missed alot of sleep since then, as well).
I've been looking for a game that is strategic in scope, but not as insanely complex or time consuming as HoE. Used to play a game called Strategic Command, similar in scale to CEaW. Then they came out with Strategic Command 2 and shifted to a weird square map system reminiscent of the old Civ2 graphics. Very odd, and the game lost some of it's playability.

I have to say that since playing the demo version of the original version of this game several years ago, this new version 2.0 is outstanding. Kudos to all of those who made these modifications.... excellent work. Great documentation on this forum as well. While playing the AI at the second easiest level, I cruised through Poland, Denmark, Low Countries, France, and was feeling pretty smug, until I tried a SeaLion invasion and got beat up pretty bad. Now, in the early months of 1942 the Russians are putting up a pretty good fight. My humility has returned and I've hunkered down to some serious strategic thinking.
cheers,
