In my opinion the air units in our core army should not use a slot. This is because if for example I have now an core army with two 109Es and 3 Stukas, my land unit number is very small for the given scenarios.
What do you think? Do you agree?
Maybe the possibility to somehow steer the core in certain direction by SOME means could be useful - the later Panzer General games used the specialized leaders for this purpose, for example - but imo, this goes beyond the scope of what could/should be changed in patches or expansions.
Balancing how many slots you want to "waste" on air units is part of Panzer Corps. Some players make extensive use of air power, other less so, and the changes to tac bombers have made those a more sensible choice as compared to artillery, which is still a tad superior, in my option.
Anyway, I think no change is necessary in this part of the game mechanics. $0.02 and all.

Playing through the DLCs 39-41 I have 6 air units (3 TB and 3 Fgt) almost the whole time - I think that's plenty. I start with 2 then gradually build up through the campaign. It's a choice that is part of the game.
I am at the beginning of DLC 41 and I have 8 air units (4 ftr, 2 tac, 2 str) and still have plenty of gound units. There were some scenarios when I have left the strategic bombers or some fighters or infantry in reserve, but it's good to rotate them so they gain experience uniformly. The fact that I have more units than I can deploy doesn't bother me. And this way you have some experienced reserves in case you lose a core unit and you play no reload.
